big dimmer

Big Dimmer: an input device that requires an entire arm length to operate.

Changing environmental qualities incrementally, Big Dimmer allows the user time to consider consuming less, a moment to appreciate nuanced change, and an opportunity to question what is just enough.

As we approach an age in which changing the temperature and light quality in a room may be as effortless for anyone as it has been for Bill Gates since the 90s, designers must promote the continued creation and innovation of buttons, switches, knobs, dials and devices that force the common consideration of material and energy consumption.
